Online plenary meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) UNESCO Chapter was held on 30 November 2020

The online plenary meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) UNESCO Chapter was held on November 30, 2020 under the chairmanship of Mr. Ayaz Gojayev, Acting Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Azerbaijan to UNESCO. The meeting were attended by the Permanent Delegates of NAM Member States and Observer States to UNESCO, representatives of the UNESCO Secretariat and by the President of the 40th session of the General Conference of UNESCO - Ambassador Ahmet Altay Cengizer, Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Turkey to UNESCO.

Mr. Gojayev briefed the meeting participants about the activities of the Azerbaijani Chairmanship of NAM for the period 2019-2020, including high-level online meetings with the aim to address COVID-19 pandemic-related challenges.

At the end of the plenary meeting, the Permanent Delegation of Azerbaijan gave comprehensive information about the last military aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan, which resulted in, inter alia, high number of civilian, including children and elderly casualties and severe damages to the civilian infrastructure.
